Depending on the day and the reservation, we will embark on a hike that will take us up to 4,500 meters above sea level, where you can enjoy an amazing view of Popocatépetl and the surrounding mountains. During the journey, you will walk through natural trails filled with flora and fauna typical of the region, while breathing in the fresh air of the highlands.   • This tour is subject to the availability of reservations at the National Park. If availability is not confirmed, access will still be granted, but the hike will start at La Joya and the destination will be Paso de Cortés, covering 7 km one way and 7 km back.
  • Access to the Iztaccíhuatl-Popocatépetl National Park is via a dirt road, which may cause movement in the vehicle due to the terrain conditions. For this reason, we proceed at a slow speed to ensure safety and comfort during the journey.

The guide was very knowledgeable, adapted the pace to the fact that we are not acclimatized to the altitude. Extra care for safety was taken.

Pablo was an incredible guide! I was picked up directly from the address I was staying at and enjoyed our ride up to Izta-Popo. Even though the weather wasn't cooperating in order to hike as far as I would've liked, I thoroughly enjoyed my hike and learned a lot of Mexican history from Pablo during my trip. He was friendly, polite, and patient while I took my time climbing in the high altitude. Thank you for an excellent experience!

I missed my hostel's Izta tour and was able to sign up for this tour at the last minute. The person who helped me was friendly, responsive, and informative. Ariel and Pablo were my guides for the hike and they were lovely. I was nervous it would be awkward with just the three of us, but it was fun. They spoke English very well, provided lots of interesting information about the region, and were experienced hikers. A few things to know about this tour: it's a fairly long journey to the start of the hike, including some very bumpy dirt roads. Be prepared for altitude sickness (especially if you're like me and signed up for this hike on your first full day in Mexico). Because of the elevation, the hike may be more difficult than you're used to. I was only able to make part way to our intended point on the volcano, but the guides were SO patient and understanding.
