The day begins early as we will be leaving Marrakech before 8.00 am and our drive will then take us across the High Atlas Mountains. The rugged beauty and height of these peaks will have you glued to the window in our minibus as we snake through the mountain roads.
There are several small Berber villages along the route and we will get a chance to stop a take some photographs of the elevated scenery before making our way to the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. It will be another couple of hours before we reach here but the scenery will remain stunning throughout.

Ait Ben Haddou, Ait Ben Haddou, Morocco The Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou is a fortified village which holds about half a dozen market areas and merchant houses. Our tour around this old building will be guided. Like Ouarzazate – which will be the next stop on this tour – Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou is a very popular location for Hollywood film crews and production companies.
You will see exactly why it makes a great setting for a number of films set in biblical times, ancient Arabic legend or movies set thousands of year ago. Sodom and Gomorrah (1963), The Man Who Would Be King (1975) and The Jewel of the Nile (1985) all made use of the ancient fortified village here at Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. 120 minutes
Ouarzazate, Ouarzazate, Morocco Our day of adventure then moves onto Ouarzazate, where we’ll tour around this city and see the film studios. Ouarzazate is a much-loved location by film production, many of whom specifically come here because of the ancient buildings, golden landscapes and stunning scenery. One feels as though you have taken a trip back in time as you explore the ancient Kasbahs, golden clay buildings and don’t be surprised to see a Hollywood film crew shooting a movie here.
Some of the blockbuster movies shot in this location include the Bond classic Living Daylights (1987), Lawrence of Arabia (1962) and The Last Temptation of Christ (1988). 120 minutes
Musee du Cinema, Ouarzazate, Morocco The museum displays a collection of posters of all the movies filmed in town, as well as details about their production. Visit the exhibit of old filming equipment, and trace the development of techniques through decades. Other displays feature props and costumes used in famous movies, such as "Gladiator." You can even try on a costume and take a picture. 45 minutes

Was a good trip to the atlas mountains and castle at quadrate. Film studio and cinema stops were not great and just made the return journey seem longer. Hotel at film studio has sign outside inviting people to come on and check the hotel out. This well dressed 70 year old was revented from entering by security. Never the less a good value day out

A bit of confusion about my pick up but once I was on the mini bus all went smoothly. This is an early start and full day of travel but there were several stops on route for photo opportunities and comfort breaks. The drive is long but through the mountains and very beautiful. When we got to Ait Ben Haddou we were handed over to a local guide (this part cost extra & note he spoke English). The site is magnificent but there are steep and uneven steps to climb and this was all done as quite a speed. Personally I would have preferred to wander off alone and regroup later. Following this we ate lunch at local restaurant (costs not included) and then set off on the return journey via studio (exterior only) and the Museum of cinema. Driver dropped us all back to Marrakesh around 9pm that evening. Note - tip your driver it is a long day for him too! PS I traveled solo but there were approx 20 people on this tour or various nationalities.

Overall it was okay.
When booking website stated 15 people maximum per group. We had 20, we got picked up from hotel slightly late and arrived as the last two to a full minibus that was waiting in town. When we got on, there was one seat at the back and two free seats of three at the front with a huge guy occupying 1 and 1/2 seats. So we squeeze next to him in the front and we get on our way. The journey took over 4 hrs through mountains with two stops on route, my legs were numb and back aching, so the stops were welcomed. We arrive and the tour guide was lovely, they take you to toilets that cost 3DH so make sure you have money. We spend 1.5 hours visiting and we then get taken to a restaurant of their choice for lunch for 1hr. Only 5 local options on menu and cost around 125dh for starter main and fruits. The tour guide also collects 30DH from each person in the restaurant for the tour. Of course you on’t have to have lunch you can go and explore, the food was okay. Then we leave and make our way to the film museum but driver only gave us 30/40 mins time so we didn’t bother go in. If you do, the museum charge you entry fee. The return journey took over 5 hrs with one stop. The traffic was so bad in centre of Marrakesh that we didn’t get back to our hotel until 9.30pm. Summery - very long journey 9hrs + to spend 1.5hrs on a tour and 30/40 minutes in museum. PS, we didn’t get any water that was mentioned in the booking so take your own. Overall it was a king wasted day for us, but I enjoyed the tour. Don’t forget to tip the driver at the end, he was really good and friendly and drove long hours.
