Our drive from Marrakech was in a very new and roomy minivan. The stops to see the women’s Argan oil cooperative very interesting, and the stop to see the goats in the trees the funniest thing I have ever seen. We connected with our local guide in Essaouira, who was terrific! Helping us to dump our bags at our hotel, allowing us an hour to get some lunch, then taking us to the port and seeing the hundreds of fisherman and their boats, the locales buying the catch of the day. His pace was perfect, explanations of the history of the town, and it’s architecture brought it to life. As we entered the walls and wove in an out of all the alleyways, he would duck us into a doorway to see a funky Riad , where we could climb up to there roof for a spectacular view. Taking us thru the souks to see all the special talents of the locales.
