The High Atlas, the greatest mountain range of North Africa, is perhaps the most beautiful and intriguing part of Morocco. It has retained a remoteness which until recently was almost complete, and contains villages where the way of life has changed. Outsiders to the mountains are always on the move when they encounter the friendliness and openness of the villagers, as they go about their everyday tasks. Hiking in the High Atlas is one of the best possible experiences in Morocco. This report is accessible to all. There is a wide range of trekking possibilities, from a short ramble through the villages that surround the Imlil, to more demanding multi-day treks. Mule support can be arranged for people and bags, which opens up more opportunities. The mule trails around the valleys are well contoured and kept in excellent condition.

Lahcen Igdem was an amazing guide ! Patiently waited for us to start the hike , told us about the area , gave us few options for the hike in the toubkal national park - we hiked for about 7 miles with splendid views of jebel toubkal along the way with breaks in between . Towards the end we had a stop at one of the houses in the village for mint tea and snack . Great experience !

We had a wonderful day with Lahcen. He was a great host and the tour is exceptional and not like many others. We had a great insight into the life of the locals and a delicious meal. We would only recommend the tour and come back anytime :) Thank you!

Lahcen was a wonderful guide, he was very responsive and arranged for us to be transferred from Marrakesh to Imlil and back. We stayed overnight in his Authentic Toubkal lodge which was amazing, highly recommend. He arranged for us to have dinner with a Berber family at their home one evening which I had said we wanted to do, it was a very special evening indeed. The next day Lahcen took us on a great hike through the villages of Imlil, fantastic scenery, and great to see the local life in the mountains, he then took us hiking up one mountain where he had arranged a delicious lunch with an incredible view. Lahcen was very friendly, is so proud of his hometown Imlil and keen to share it with visitors. And he’s also very responsive and wants to make sure you have the experience you are seeking, with some wonderful surprises as well. I highly recommend him if you’re planning a trip to Imlil and want to do hiking, or whatever experience he will arrange it for you! Thank you so much Lahcen!
