Our first full day in Marrakech and we did this tour in the really busy souq area I've visited Marrakech several times, but an orientation of the medina is always useful - our guide helps us to keep the hawkers at bay. The guide was very informative, patient, and took us to places in the medina that we wouldn't have otherwise seen; such as the basement where a man was firing up a wood-burning boiler for the attached hammam, and had several pots of meat slow-cooking on an open fire to later deliver to restaurants. You'll be taken to the little workshops where blokes are banging on metal and cutting out leather. You'll have time to shop if you want to, but we just wanted a taste of the medina, without getting lost. He also recommended us a few local restaurants, which worked out well (we had lunch at the Argana three times). Well worth it.
