Essaouira is usually "sold" as a 1-day excursion from Marrakech but that had an explanation when Marrakech was a city that deserved several days to walk around and enjoy it but now, with a chaotic Marrakech, with people and cars, where for example the famous Plaza of Djemaa el Fna is just a caricature of what it was. I believe that the right thing to do is to share the stay with Essaouira since I believe that the white, walled city, a Medina with artisans and beautiful beaches deserves a stay of more days. Perhaps the problem is going in summer because it has become one of the main beach destinations in the country and where, in addition, it receives surfers from all over the world who have their Atlantic beaches as their summer destination. And it should be reported that the city's airport is operational for international flights, facilitating arrival or departure. There is no doubt that Essaouira is worth a visit and I trust that my suggestion will be useful to you. !Have a good trip!

Ismail our driver and guide regaled us with the history and customs of Morocco on our drive from Marrakech to Essaouira (a coastal town on the Atlantic). We then met our delightful guide Youness who introduced us to this city and it’s long history. We had a delicious lunch overlooking the ocean and did a bit of shopping along the old marketplace. Youness was informative and enthusiastic. We would wholeheartedly recommend this tour company and their tour guides who spoke very understandable English
