The Monteverde area is home to over 450 species of birds. About 90 of those species migrate from North America every year. This tour offers a professional guided walk early in the morning when normally most birds are waking up and enjoying breakfast. Even though there is no control of the weather nor the birds, your guide will do the very best to spot and ID as many birds and wild life as possible. This tour is conducted in small groups is provide the best service possible. This tour is for birders of all ages and experience levels, so whether you are a bird watching expert, an amateur or none, you are welcome to join a walk in the Forest in the heart of the Monteverde community.

Transportation is offered at hotels within a 4 kilometer radius, in the Santa Elena-Monteverde area.

  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

Olman did a great job of finding birds! Then they flew away. Seriously, morning is the best time to see a lot of birds, but they are very active, so it was rare that he could catch them in his scope and all of us would get to see before they flew off again. But Olman was persistent. We actually started in a parking lot and saw more birds there than we did in the Cure-Cancha reserve. Just the walk through the forest was amazing, though, and we did get to see a lot of birds (and some pigs, and some coatis). The strangler fig is a tree that has to be seen in person to be believed.

By far the best part of the tour was our guide. Knowledgeable, pleasant and a fabulous bird spotter. Our time with him was like being with an old friend

Our tour guide, Ullman, was excellent. However, we were under the impression that breakfast was included as part of this tour; it was not. This left us with a bad impression of Viator. You should make this more clear!
