Come along for a guided walk on the comic genius Charlie Chaplin! Chaplin was born in Kennington, London in 1889 and lived their until he was 21. He was born into and spent his early years in great poverty in (at the time) one of the poorest areas of London. As a teenager he joined a performing group in nearby Brixton and during a tour of the U.S was spotted performing by a scout for Sennett Studios, they signed him up and the rest is history! I will guide you round the streets visiting various places that influenced him, the houses where he lived as a child and describing the conditions of the area in late Victorian London. I will tell you the story of his relationships with his mentally ill mother, alcoholic father and the close bond he had with his half brother Sydney. We finish the walk at the place where he learnt his comedy walk! The walk lasts just under 2 hours.  We meet outside Kennington Tube Station.

Robert took a group of 15 of us on the Charlie Chaplin walk on Thursday. He was excellent, the walk is a true rags to riches story told with enthusiasm and relevant facts. It gave an insight into life in Victorian England. The story came to life with Roberts guidance and everyone was enthralled all of the group felt it was a super experience. Fully recommended

The walk exceed my expectations. Robert is extremely knowledgeable about Charlie Chaplin in how provided information in a friendly and informative way, engage the audience. This walk was a travel back to victorian times and how difficult it was to live in those times. Highly recommended .

A really stunning walk. So many interesting and surprising facts. Not only about Chaplin but also about life in Victorian times given in an absorbing and often amusing way. We visited places of interest and saw lots of photos which really brought the talk to life. With friendly people too! Robert was so knowledgeable!
