    Before departing from our private launching area on Bowens Island, your group will participate in a brief instructional session, safety discussion, and an explanation on how to use the foot driven steering system on your kayaks. During your 2-hour guided eco-tour, you will explore Charleston’s iconic tidal creeks and saltmarsh. While paddling through the estuarine waters behind Folly Beach, your local guide will introduce you to the area's wide variety of wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for dolphins gracefully playing and feeding, wading birds exploring the shallows, crabs and invertebrates crawling on mudflats, and pelicans diving! Your guide will also discuss the value and functions of the area's major ecosystems.

  • Our captains and guides work very hard to ensure that a memorable experience is had by all of our guests. Gratuity, as you feel so inclined, is always appreciated.
You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.
  • For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

Thank you for an excellent kayaking experience! Riann, our guide, was experienced, knowledgeable, and competent. The waters were slightly rough with waves. She maintained connection and safety with a relatively large group of kayaks while telling us about the ecosystem of the estuary. We were a group of three people and each of us enjoyed the time.

The day my daughter and I were scheduled for the kayak tour turned out to be rainy and very windy. The staff at Charleston Outdoor Adventures contacted us. They reported that all the other scheduled people had canceled because of the weather. However, they assured us it was still safe to go, but wanted to be sure we were fully informed that it would not be a leisurely paddle as we had expected. They graciously offered to cancel us with no charge, waiving their 24-hour cancellation policy, while still assuring us they were happy to go if that was what we decided. Since this was our only time option during the short time we were in Charleston, we decided to go for it. The rain had stopped by then. We were so happy we did!!! They put us in a tandem kayak because it was more stable and also so we could combine out paddling efforts. Our guide, Cullen, was so informative we learned a ton of information. He answered our questions and definitely made this a memorable experience. His passion regarding maintaining the ecology of the salt marshes was a plus! We highly recommend using COA. They were well equipped, safety conscious, and all the staff we encountered were extremely knowledgeable.

My husband & I were celebrating our wedding anniversary. This was so much fun!! We loved our guide and the whole experience. She was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and shared with us so. Interesting stories . We saw Dolphins 2 different times, on our kayak and they were only 50yds away!! Definitely 5+ Stars!!
