The site was home to a respected museum for more than 30 years, now under new management, it has undergone a complete revamp. Deva Roman Discovery Centre will be a Roman attraction worthy of Britain’s most Roman of cities and will create a destination for the city to be proud of revealing its fascinating past. You can expect the usual Roman soldiers and a self guided tour but you can also experience plenty of hands-on activities, new interactive displays, new activities for schools and show-stopping light and sound projections designed to recreate the past and explain history as you have never seen it before bringing shadows to life! We enjoyed it and I thought the “Roman Soldier” we met when we arrived and later on was very knowledgeable and entertaining. However it was expensive for what it was, not that much to see for the £25 I paid for entry, some of the interactive activities didn’t work or were missing which is not good considering it is a new attraction, so felt rather ripped-off.
