I was looking for a hike to do and found this one that suited my dates. Everything went smoothly, the guides were friendly and spoke good English.
Aidan picked me up promptly at my hotel and dropped me and my guide Sakchai off while he waited for us in the truck at the finish point.
I got a private hike as I was the only person who signed up for the tour. Really appreciate that they still went ahead despite me being the only customer.
Fair warning - the hike is STEEP. I think it was also due to the hot period that the ground was covered in heaps of dry leaves, which made it slightly slippery. Luckily he provided me with trekking poles.
I was also only wearing Adidas running shoes, and the hike was still doable.
Sakchai was fun to talk to, enjoys hiking, biking, running and the great outdoors. He also explained to me about the forest, the type of ground (clay) and some wildlife.
I must also caveat that there's no super 'scenic' view during the hike. You're mostly hiking through the jungle where all you see are trees until you get to the top.
The total length of the hike was 6.5 km and it took me about 3 hours to get to the peak where you're finally rewarded with a view. Unfortunately for me, it was at the tail end of the burning season and I was greeted with a very hazy view. Still a sense of accomplishment after not having hiked for 2+ years!
I didn't do the mountain biking option - at the end of the tour, Aidan was there waiting and we had lunch before taking the truck back down.
