Learn about the great architectural landmarks of Michigan Avenue and State Street. The 40 years between 1890 and 1930 saw the creation of some of Chicago’s the most memorable buildings, many of which are featured on this tour. After the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893, Chicago was determined to become a great cultural and commercial metropolis. This tour is a testament to that era's ambitions. See buildings by Daniel Burnham, Louis Sullivan, Holabird and Roche and other noted architects and hear the stories behind the city's architectural gems. Can't recommend this tour enough! Mary was informative and fun and the buildings magnificent. I've been living in Chicago for 23 years and I learned a ton about my adopted city. I look forward to trying more of the walking tours and taking visitors on this one.

This was so much more than we could’ve expected. Certainly, we visited architectural highlights and had them explained in great detail, but our guide Bill filled in the background, the history and the social stories behind them. He was also very kind when we needed a quick break a couple of times he was completely understanding and didn’t mind us going a bit over overtime.

Ron Roman was our tour guide and was excellent! He took his time explaining the city’s history and sprinkled in nook’s and granny’s to make his feedback unique. Being a Chicagoan he opened my eyes to the structures I have walked past in previous years. What a beautiful city we have and Ron opened a larger looking glass. Thank you Ron!!
