I’ve read some of the other reviews and understand the criticism of limiting the time out on the Skydeck but tbh having just toured Western Europe and had to wait for what seemed like forever for some tourists to pose and pose and pose and eventually take photos I was pleased that the time is limited and you can go around again if you want more time.
We originally arrived for the first slot of the day last Sunday. The sky was completely overcast and on entry we were informed that visibility was at zero and were offered to reschedule. THANK YOU ! So many places, post Covid, sell timed tickets and there is no offer for a reschedule if the weather impedes your visit. Also all credit to Adrian who helped us with this. He was super friendly and when our new tickets wouldn’t print took photos from his computer for us to present on the Wednesday.
Our visit on the Wednesday was at 1 pm. There were no significant queues. We declined the photo at the start after all no one can insist you have your photo taken.
I actually enjoyed the exhibition presented beforehand and learnt a little more about the culture of Chicago. I actually don’t like it when it’s in, up, take a photo n down. Personal choice.
At the top you were able to look out and enjoy the views at your leisure and could join the queue for the Skydeck when you were ready.
My husband did this on his own as I’m afraid of heights but as I’m trying to get over this I then decided to give it a go and he came around again.
This is my only criticism of the visit. The lady in charge of our pod wasn’t very understanding of my fear and just wanted to get us out there it felt so she could get the timer on, take her photos and move on. Not everyone is as confident at height and it didn’t help being rushed.
This was included in our Go City Chicago Pass so the cost only came into our original calculation of whether the pass was worth the investment based on what we wanted to see in Chicago.
