This peak was also known as Sun Mountain by the Ute people and El Capitan by Spanish explorers, but it was later named after the explorer Zebulon Pike. It is also known as America’s Mountain because the magnificent vista at the top inspired the lyrics of “America, the Beautiful.” The mountain stands at 14,115 feet and is the tallest mountain in the southern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. As you stand at the summit, you will have a beautiful view of Colorado Springs and the rest of the Rocky Mountain range. With the right conditions, you will see for miles, enjoying all the natural beauty.

We had a wonderful day at Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods. Our driver, Dave, was very knowledgeable about the area and enthusiastic about showing us around the area.

The tour was great. The only issue we had was the tour operator had two trainee tag along to learn and they sat in the premium front seat and the single seat by the side door while us 3 paying seniors got creamed in the rear seats where the wheel well on each side provides no leg room for people on each side. If operator need to train guides give the paying customers the premium seats and let the trainees sit in the cramped seats. Give the paying passengers comfort..

Beautiful way to spend a day! Our driver was extremely knowledgeable and careful driving up the extremely curvy road. The view from the top was breathtaking.
