    Government House dominates the west end of the Town Plaza, a unique Spanish land use component lying within a National Historic Landmark District. Along coasts, plazas were to begin at the waterfront - to see and to be seen. Since 1598, a government building has stood on this site with a view of the harbor landing, accommodating administrative headquarters and residences of colonial governors appointed by the Crowns of Spain, then Britain, then Spain again. After Spain ceded Florida to the United States in 1821, this current Government House served as a courthouse and briefly as a Capitol of the new Territory of Florida.

Our tour with Corley was absolutely AMAZING! We ended up being a few minutes late, but he was so accommodating... he even was able to accommodate for our dietary preferences! (we mainly eat pescatarian) The food spots were superb (everything was delicious), and we got to see some significant, historic areas of town. We HIGHLY recommend this tour for anyone visiting St. Augustine... hopefully you'll get Corley as your guide!

If you can only fit one tour into your St. Augustine visit, take this tour and bring your appetite. You will see and hear a lot of the history of the city, plus you will visit food & drink places that might not otherwise appear on your itinerary. A special thanks to our guide, Scott, who truly loves this city and all of the food it has to offer. Our restaurant hosts / owners were friendly and engaging. While your tour may not visit these places, please give them a try when you are in town; including, Growers Alliance (Kenyan), Old City House Inn (great pasta), Bar Harbor Cheesecake Company (take some home).
