    When hiking Arenal Volcano, you have a lot of different trail options. All go around the base of the impressive volcano, giving you different vantage points. In our opinion, one of the best views of Arenal Volcano is from Mirador El Silencio. This series of easy-to-moderate trails leads to a very high lookout. Here, you feel as though you are standing eye to eye with Arenal’s cone-shaped peak

Worth every penny! Kenya, our guide, was wonderful and we saw and learned about so many creatures and plants that we would have missed on our own. It was also quite nice to share our tour with a small group from around the world. Don't forget water shoes! Also, the waterfall is good for photos but the better swimming is in the lower pool to the left where there are fewer rocks and the water is calmer.

Our driver and tour guide Mario was really great on the day when me and others went on this tour. He was very communicative (both in English for me and Spanish for some others), enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and just really a nice guy. The day started going to the Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges. You get to see a lot of different species similar to when I did a night walk tour in Monteverde a few days earlier, except in the daylight. Crossing these hanging bridges may seem a little nerve wracking at first, but it was a really fun experience. It was a nice animal, reptile, and bird watching activity along with a leisurely hike around this area. Afterwards, we went to La Fortuna's Waterfall where it was another beautiful waterfall I got to see during my trip in Costa Rica. The descent (many steps) to get to the base of the waterfall was one thing, but ascending back up those same steps was a pretty intense exercise activity in itself. But seeing the waterfall up close was really something. I was not expecting lunch back at La Fortuna's Waterfall restaurant afterwards, but Mario was very nice to treat me and the others. My tour this day ended here as I did not go to the Arenal Volcano tour. A really great day and a great guide to show me these must visit sites in Arenal.
