Arenal Volcano hike Tour

Where to begin? The website says to meet at a hotel call Montana de Fuego at 8 am. We arrived on time but there were no signs and local staff had no knowledge of this tour operator. After a few calls the staff pointed us to a tour group across the road. They had no clue who ran this tour. Naturally the operator left no phone numbers to contact them. After many attempts we were able to speak to the tour operator. They directed us to meet them at the park entrance. We drove there but there was nobody from the tour! We called again but it was now 8:45. No answer on the phone. At 8:55 they called back and said why not just forget the first half and join them in a few hours for the 2nd half. So, we just wasted $200 for no show! And a wasted vacation day. They sent me a “link” where to meet. It was merely an add for Fousquare!

I did two tours with Go Adventures while in Costa Rica, and both were excellent. First I did the zip line & rappelling tour, and the guides were super friendly and entertaining. They were high energy and their outgoing personalities made the tour especially enjoyable. The tour lasted about 2 hours and ended at the Arenal river so wear a bathing suit if you want to take a dip. The second tour was a full-day tour of Arenal volcano, La Fortuna Waterfall & the hanging Bridges with Monica. She was like a walking encyclopedia. Monica was extremely knowledgeable and also very sweet. Afterward, everywhere we went I said, “I wish Monica was here” so she could offer explanations to me. At the end, I felt like I was back in school - I had learned so much. I can’t recommend the tours enough. I’m just sad I didn’t get to do the running tour with Go Adventures.

L’ascension du volcan est un peu éprouvante les jours de grande chaleur mais la vue en haut en vaut vraiment la peine. La marche est ponctuée d'arrêt durant les quels le guide nous raconte des anecdotes intéressantes. Après être redescendu on à la chance de pouvoir se baigner dans une lagune magnifique ! Le repas chez une famille qui vit à côté de la lagune est très appréciable après la marche. Le site est superbe et la famille très accueillante. Et pour finir la baignade dans les sources d'eaux chaudes est juste une tuerie !! Site magnifique, sauvage et très tranquille !!
