Chela, her mother in ‘love’ and her best friend made this a wonderful and unique experience for our family! We picked vegetables from the organic garden, learned about Costa Rica cooking techniques and cooked together over a wood-burning stove. We would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an authentic and delicious Costa Rican meal experience.

What a special night! Our group of 8 (including 2 children, ages 9 and 12) enjoyed El Fogon de Chela. Isela is an amazing ambassador for Costa Rica - we learned to cook an authentic meal - chicken, rice, beans, plantains - and got to share a special experience with our family. I would recommend this to anyone looking for something special and authentic for their trip. Thank you Chela for an incredible memory.

This was a highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. Our group consisted of two families with kids ranging from 10-13 years of age. Chela was so engaging, patient and informative with our varied skill levels in the kitchen. We learned about the history and culture while learning to make a wonderful authentic meal. Don't be afraid of booking this experience if you are not a skilled cook. Her guidance led us to create a meal that was amazing even though we are not skilled chefs. Everyone in our group participated. We would strongly recommend this experience for anyone visiting Costa Rica. We booked this after a zip-lining experience so you can certainly get some adventure in and then relax and enjoy a fantastic meal that you prepare.
