Rincon De La Vieja Volcano National Park, Costa Rica Our journey will take us to the Las Pailas trail, a 3 km (2 miles) loop that traverses thick rainforest and some open fields.
The initial part of the trail is exceptionally scenic, leading to one of the park's most impressive features: steam vents, also known as fumaroles. These appear as significant holes in the ground, consistently emitting steam, producing peculiar gurgling sounds, and releasing a distinctive sulfur smell.
You will encounter white-faced monkeys, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, and a variety of birds. 120 minutes
Oropendola Warterfall, Rincon de La Vieja, Costa Rica The journey to La Oropendola Waterfall continues with a short walk from the national park entrance, navigating diverse terrain until you reach the river. Moving a brief distance within the river itself, the path leads to the awe-inspiring La Oropendola waterfall.
Standing at an impressive 25 meters, it gracefully descends into a bubbling turquoise pool within the vibrant canyon of the Blanco River, forming an extraordinary tropical oasis.
Immerse yourself in the refreshing waters, surrounded by the natural beauty of this picturesque setting, making it a truly unforgettable experience. 60 minutes

Jose our guide was excellent. He was nice and attentive to our needs. He was knowledgeable and our day was super pleasant. We learnt a lot, had a great hike, enjoyed the waterfalls and the thermal springs. The only thing that would have made it better was to have cold water available as was promised.

The ideal private tour! Started off with our hotel pickup, right on time and in a comfortable transport van with AC. Samuel was our driver, he was incredibly careful in driving and also very friendly (even gave us tips of where to get the best prices on souvenirs!).
Marvin was our tour guide, he introduced himself as our “best friend for the day”! Very conversational and friendly throughout the trip, and highly knowledgeable about all the nature & wildlife. Knew right off hand the names of the species of all the animals we saw, as well as the plant life and the history around all the areas we visited. He speaks great English, we traded teaching each other new conversational phrases throughout the day.
The trip location was great - got to see rainforest, dry forest, volcanic mud pits, geysers, and got to swim at the Oropendola waterfall! Hike was moderately easy, Marvin definitely kept at our pace - oh, and he was incredibly thoughtful with the Covid protocols! Had mask on, sanitizer ready, and gave us space if we had to take a breather during the hike. Lunch was great, solid restaurant with good preparation of the Costa Rican typical lunch.
Stopped by a coffee and souvenir shop on the way back to the hotel (wasn’t originally on the itinerary, so it was very cool they did that). All in all, great experience and would highly recommend Green Life Tours! Pura vida!
