In this day tour you will be able to enjoy beautiful views from the Irazu Volcano National Park, Orosi Valley and explore Cartago City. Irazu is an active strato volcano with an irregular subconical shape. It towers 3,432 meters above sea level and spreads over 500 square kilometers, which makes it the largest volcano in Costa Rica.

  • Irazu Volcano National Park, Costa Rica
    You will be picked up from your hotel in San Jose between 7 and 7:30am. You will then travel 12 miles Eeast through the Panamerican Higway to Cartago province. At 9:30am you will arrive at Irazu Volcano National Park for a short walk to the main craters, enjoying great panoramic views of the Caribbean and Central Valley. A tour guide will explain all important facts about history, activities, vegetation and wildlife. After spending one hour at the volcano viewpoint, you will start to make your way to downtown Cartago in order to visit the main Basilica. At around 11:30am, you will visit Cartago City's main attractions including the Los Angeles Basilica. At 12:15pm you will continue to the wonderful Orosi Coffee Valley, stop at a viewpoint for beautiful pictures of the region and proceed to a restaurant for a great lunch.

De Irazu vulkaan kan tot bove met een auto bereikt worden en de stroom bezoekers wordt met tijdsloten gemanaged waardoor er niet te veel bezoekers tegelijkertijd zijn. Als het weer mee zit is het een schitterende ervaring waarbij het contrast van de weidse vlakte met de diepe krater groots overkomt.

Der Vulkan selber und die Vegetation waren sehr interessant. Die Ruine der Kirche in einem wunderschönen Garten mit Vögeln. Dann das gute Essen und der Kaffee. Wir haben auch Früchte, Backwaren und Kakaobohnen probieren können. Die Basilika Los Angeles war auch sehr imposant. Einfach ein tolles Erlebnis.

Freddy was a great guide, he explained a lot on our way to the volcano. Unfortunately it was really cloudy so we couldn't see the crater, but that's just luck. It was still a nice experience. Freddy also made a bathroom stop for me on the way back to San Jose. Very sweet!
