    The trip begins by ascending the breathtaking summit of the Irazu Volcano, passing all types and forms of vegetation, from coffee plantations, to ferns, depending on the elevation. The trip leads up to a spectacular view of the massive crater which is home to a lagoon with a mystical green hue surrounded by jagged rocks. It should be mentioned, that on a clear day you can actually see both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans! After an exciting tour of the volcano, we will descend to the historical city of Cartago. Here will visit the mysterious ruins of the old Parish and take in the beautiful Basilica of our Virgin of Los Angeles (Virgen de los Angeles) with rich displays of carvings, statues and other art.

Our guide, José was excellent. The weather didn't cooperate so we didn't see the crater, but did walk around the top. He gave us suggestions of what to order at the little cafe as well. Since we didn't get to see the crater, he took us back on a slightly different route that let us see more countryside. He also stopped at a famous empanada shop so that we could order some. His English was excellent so we all learned a lot about the country and culture!

Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, the driver safe, the vehicle was clean and comfortable, it just needed a new tyre it was a short trip, it would have been nice to have had a little longer so we could walk to the highest point or even if they could amend the trip so they drive up there first for 10-15 minutes then down to the crater as there didn't seem enough time to do both I have been to Irazú before and was fortunate to have seen the turquoise lake but some on the trip were disappointed expecting to see it on this trip but it is not there all year around, I went not expecting to see it but thinking if I did it would be a bonus (I saw in June before)

Photo non conforme pas d eau dans le cratère ! Peu de temps à Cartago pour visiter l église connue et pas de temps pour manger ou visiter la ville retour direct â l hôtel!
