    We will stop at the Virgin of the Angels Basilica – a famous peregrination site for many believers, some of which travel for days or even weeks on foot, in a pilgrimage of faith, to the site. The Basilica has large vaulted ceilings and exquisite examples of stained glass windows, a rich displays of carvings, statues and other pieces of art.

  • Jardin Botanico Lankester, Cartago, Costa Rica
    Next, after we visit the Basilica we will stop at the Lankester Gardens, a University of Costa Rica Center for investigation that protects more than 800 species of orchids, bromeliads and countless species of other plants.

  • Orosi River Valley, Orosi, Costa Rica
    Then, we will continue to the Valley of Orosi, an area that overflows with unparalleled beauty. We will be able to visit one of the few remaining colonial churches and we will stop to enjoy a tasty typical lunch at one of the local restaurants.

It would have been an excellent tour if the time management was better. We spent a lot of time waiting for the bus and guide to arrive at Cartago. Erik is a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. We learned so much about the tropical forest and plants in Lankester Garden. Unfortunately we didn’t not see the Japanese Garden. Didn’t stop to see Orosi river valley either. The pictures in the booking site were so amazing and I was hoping to see all those places but didn’t. Lunch at Hotel La Casona was incredible. The venu was so beautiful and food was delicious! All in all, a good day trip from San Jose!

Lacking in activities, The basilica of the lady of the angels was very impressive. Lankester gardens very well laid out, unfortunately it rained rather heavy so didn't study the plants as long as I should have. Lunch was nice. The rest of the time was travelling . Expected to be walking in the valley and getting insights to the culture of the area. So disappointed, not worth the money

En sí, los lugares visitados son muy interesantes, el restaurante muy rico y llenador con una vista espectacular. El guía, Martín, muy amable y divertido, se nota su preparación y su gusto por enseñar lugares emblemáticos del país. El chofer también muy amable y manejando de forma segura, puntuales. Me encantó el servicio como tal. Sin embargo siento reducido el tiempo dedicado tanto a la Basílica como al Jardín. En la Basílica apenas se puede ver bien pero si tocara un día con más gente, no se podría ver todo. Por otro lado, el Jardín de Lankester es inmenso, tanto en tamaño y senderos secundarios que te lleven a rincones interesantes, como por la cantidad de plantas. Si eres amante de las plantas, el Jardín requiere en sí mismo un día de visita. Aún si sólo quieres conocerlo y recorrer con calma sólo el sendero principal si se requiere por lo menos media hora más. Es una buena opción para una visita rápida al mismo tiempo que vas conociendo aspectos históricos, sociales y naturales del país gracias a las explicaciones del guía, que hace el recorrido más ameno.
