This tour is ideal for those who want to take advantage of every minute in Costa Rica, discovering some of the country’s nocturnal wonders in a night hike. We will begin our tour in a small town known as La Tigra, located just 30 minutes from La Fortuna. Once we arrive, we will take the trail in to a small patch of rainforest in the process of regeneration with some mirrored lakes, which facilitate wildlife observation. You can expect to see species like nocturnal birds and mammals, insects, amphibians, bats, and more.

    The trail will go around the mirrored lakes to the frog sanctuary, which is an area dedicated to the regeneration and natural reproduction of frog species. Here you will discover a large amount of species such as the dart frog and the bull frog, the smallest and largest species in Costa Rica, as well as the spectacular Red Eyed Tree Frog, and the beautiful Glass Frog. After the tour, a delicious Costa Rican dinner prepared on a wood burning stove will await us. We will enjoy our dinner viewing the lights of the valleys of San Carlos. I went on this night hike with my husband, brother and my 14 year old son. We drove ourselves there (versus getting a ride with Ecoterra) because we were staying not too far from the site. We got there a little early and the best part of the the tour was talking with the property owner and looking at the beautiful flora beyond the terrace and the birds. The walk was okay but overpriced for what it was. We saw a few interesting things, but it was a very short walk and the guide, although very nice, seemed like she had learned a routine for the walk and otherwise did not have a lot of knowledge about local flora and fauna. The meal was okay - I had been in country for about 3 weeks before doing this tour and had had much better 'typical' cost rican meals. The grounds were supported by misters, so it all felt a little fake. In fairness, I had done an amazing night hike the week before at Rainmaker north of Manuel Antonio, so may have been more wowed by this one if I hadn't done that one recently.

Overall a good experience. On the way there you drive through some villages and then the property is great. Got to see some frogs and bugs. Had a nice meal after too. Tour guides were really good.

The guide was excellent and quite knowledgeable. It was so fun to spot frogs and bugs and sloths! The setting is gorgeous and the meal is delicious
