Seeing the turtles lay their eggs is a unique experience and when it comes to the arrival it is even more because there are literally so many turtles that you can barely walk. Arrivals commonly occur at Ostional beach only 3 days a month based on tides and phase of the moon, however, the turtles themselves are the ones that decide, so the dates are unpredictable. Turtles always lay their eggs on the same beach, which is also the same where they were born, which makes the experience even more special. Depending on the time the guides, who will do everything possible to see turtles, will take them in case of arrival to the Ostional refuge or a fairly popular option is the Corozalito refuge where there are no arrivals, but you have good opportunities to see turtles in less quantity and even newborns.

We offer pick up and drop off transportation for all the hotels in Sámara and Puerto Carrillo town. If you are in a house in the area, just send us the location.

Maria helped us book a turtle tour, a horseback riding tour, and a coffee tour. All 3 were exceptional. Maria responded very quickly and arranged every detail. Each guide was knowledgeable as well as pleasant and kind. I was astounded at how much we learned while having the time of our lives. We had an amazing guide. He found a nest of sea turtles just starting to hatch. We got to watch 100 babies emerge and walk to the sea. Awesome!
