We start visiting the hanging bridges of Mistico park. The guide is with you to help you learn about the ecosystem. Hiking over the bridges and trails you enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding forest, Arenal volcano and lake. From here we take a short drive to the park that's right at the foot of the volcano. We hike a trail through the big lava rocks from the '68 eruption Here we reach a viewpoint with amazing views of the Arenal volcano, the surrounding lava fields and the Northern valley. We then stop at a restaurant where they serve a wide variety of local-style dishes. Now it's time to get wet. A 20minuts hike through a jungle staircase takes you into a deep canyon to the immense la Fortuna waterfall. You can swim in the refreshing pool of the waterfall and hang around on the big rocks to relax for a while. Having experienced all of this you can choose if you want to join us on a visit to a small hot springs resort. To add to the fun we pour some typical style cocktails.

My group of 6 (that ranged from 7 to 71 years old) went on the full day waterfall/lava fields tour and it was incredible! Isaac was a fantastic guide - from sharing about the rich culture and history of Costa Rica to helping my mom up and down some parts of the hikes that were more steep. I was a bit hesitant to go on such a long tour but this was definitely one of my favorite activities from our 10 day trip to Costa Rica. I highly recommend Red Lava and that you request Isaac to be your guide!

Christian was our tour guide through Red Lava Tours. We had a wonderful time and saw many critters on our tour! One of the La Fortuna waterfall after lunch. We have seen a lot of waterfalls but this one stood out. Plus you can swim at the waterfall! Christian was very kind and put lots of effort into explaining the ecological connections between the organisms we saw an lots of fun facts. Definitely would do again!

My husband and I had the most epic day! Waterfalls, Arenal volcano and hot springs - it was a fantastic day of beauty, hiking, nature, wildlife and education. We had the BEST tour guide with Isaac. He was friendly, fun and so knowledgeable about everything and we always felt safe with him leading our crew. It was definitely a full day, but so worth it. It is an experience we will never forget. Highly recommend, especially with Isaac as your guide.
