  • Venado Caves, Costa Rica
    The amazing Venado Caves, formed 15 – 20 million years ago, were discovered by the aboriginal Guatosos. Throughout the 1 ½ hour tour through formations formed by an underground river, we will see stalactites, stalagmites, and marine fossils along with plenty of bats, spiders, and crickets. As adventurers, we should be prepared to move through very tight spaces, get thoroughly wet, and be covered in mud as we walk and crawl along the underground river and through the waterfall to explore the wonders of this cave.

We really enjoyed our time with Mauricio. It was an exciting tour and we loved the insights he had to offer about the caving ecosystem! Additionally, Keylor also made our drive to the caves memorable by telling us about life in Costa Rica!

We had Kenia as our tour guide and she was a pleasure to be with. She drove us an hour each way from La Fortuna to Venado Caves. She was very knowledgeable about everything along the way on the drive and we learned so much. She found a sloth, monkeys and toucans in the trees which we would have never seen. Wilmer, our guide at the caves took us through every crawl space, river, and twist and turn through the cave. I felt very safe with him. He pointed out many features of the caves and got a big spider for my son to hold. He also took photos for us. Kenia had coffee and water and snacks for us for after. We had a lovely drive back and are very appreciative of her!! My son keeps asking if she can come with us again!

Fue una experiencia única por que hice el tour con mi mama que tiene 68 años, el guía fue super amable y la ayudo en todo momento para poder pasar por los obstáculos, mi mama quedo fascinada con la experiencia y el muy bien servicio del guía, la experiencia de ver de cerca a los murciélagos e insectos de cavernas fue maravillosa, me gusta viajar y ya había visitado algunas cavernas, pero esta fue de otro nivel esta en mi top 1. Yo fue directo no por agencia y encontré cupo sin problemas igual es importante llamar para consultar ya que esta algo alejado, te prestan botas y los accesorios que necesitas, debes llevar toalla, jabón, shampoo y otra muda de ropa por que saliendo de la caverna debes bañarte ya que hay muchos murciélagos y su excremento esta por todas partes así que es mejor desinfectarse a salir
