On our first day in San Jose, this was a wonderful introduction to the city. The bus was double decker, with great views. We saw a beautiful historical mural of Costa Rican history in an art museum that was once the country’s first airport. We walked through the Central Market, had a meal of traditional food in a funky restaurant, saw the Costa Rica National Monument and went to the beautiful lobby of the National Theater. We ended the tour at the Gold Museum. On the bus there was a guitar player serenading us with Costa Rican songs. Our guide Hector did an outstanding job in Spanish and English. I appreciated his care with the group. San Jose isn’t the easiest terrain to navigate. The bus had umbrellas available for the inevitable rain.
Without our own transportation, this was a fine way to see the city. Even with a car, I would not want to drive in San Jose!
We were a couple, but this trip would be fine for older kids.
