    Bibury - “the most beautiful village in England” On arriving into Bibury you may think you have been transported back to a different age. The village was once described by the British poet, artist and novelist William Morris (1834-96) as “the most beautiful village in England”. Bibury’s attractions includes Arlington Row, a 17th century row of weavers cottages built of local stone next to the River Coln. It is one of the most photographed areas in the region and was chosen as a location for the 2007 film ‘Stardust’. Close by you will find the Bibury Trout Farm and a Saxon Church. The River Coln flows between the main village street and a watermeadow: together with Alrington Row as a backdrop, it makes one of the most picuresque scenes you will find in the Cotswolds. Choose to visit Burford’s numerous small shops offering Cotswolds cheese, quality meats, freshly made cakes, antiques and books.

    Regularly voted one of the prettiest villages in England, Bourton-on -the-Water has a unique appeal to visitors and residents alike. Known as the Venice of the Cotswolds, this one village offers a wealth of attractions and shops, restaurants and tea rooms, or simply the space for you to enjoy some tranquil time by the River Windrush, spanned by its five arched bridges. Bourton-on-the-Water’s most prized feature is its tranquil river. Fed from many springs, its source is approximately ten miles from the village, and even in the 1976 drought the flow continued. Where the river enters the village centre, over the rapids next to the Old Mill, its clear waters flow under a miscellany of arched stone bridges past the green with its banks of Cotswold stone.

The Cotswolds are a must-see on a trip to the UK and this tour is a great way to see 3 villages with an expert guide. I feel the need to set something straight. Another member of our tour group left a vindictive review that is largely untrue and totally unfair. The woman and her travel partner were the last to board the bus and therefore had to sit in the back. She and her partner both claimed motion sickness and demanded to displace others so they could sit in the front. The guide was polite but firm that seats were first come first serve. The claim that the driver was aggressive was a total fabrication. He did a wonderful job of negotiating the narrow roads in a large vehicle. I was embarrassed by the behavior of 2 of my fellow countrymen and infuriated by their attempt to defame a great guide and driver.

My friend and I decided to visit the Cotswolds. Our tour guide Sheila was very knowledgeable and made us all feel comfortable right away. Tony our driver did an excellent job navigating the traffic and getting us in and out of the towns safely. The area is beautiful although very busy with tourists so be prepared! My favorite town was Bourton on the Water because of the clean clear river, the beautiful homes and a wide variety of shops. We ate at a little cafe off the beaten path A’Moore Cafe. It was cute, quaint and had indoor and outdoor seating. The sandwiches and tea were delicious!! Overall a wonderful day.

I had a very pleasant experience. Sheila and Tony were great! Sheila was very knowledgeable and funny (love the Scottish story telling skill.) Cotswold is such a picturesque country! All our stops were well planned, we had time to explore and relax, enjoy the local shops and taste some amazing food. We even made it back without any traffic. Overall a great experience.
