Elounda - a small fishing village on the shores of the bay of Mirabello Spinalonga Island - Guided tour around the Venetian Fortress, bay - swimming, sunbathing and BBQ lunch, Agios Nikolaos Elounda is a popular holiday resort, often visited by VIPs for the luxurious beach resorts, situated in the area. From there, the boat is heading the small island of Spinalonga. The history and the culture of the island of Spinalonga became one with human tragedy in the course of time. This small isle carries within the history of Ancient Greece, as it served as a natural guard for the ancient city of Olous; the history of the Saracens as a hide-out for their pirates; the history of Venetians as their fortress; the history of Turks as their settlement. An sich war es eine echt schöne Tour, es hatte oft aber den Charakter von Massenabfertigung. Die Bucht von Kolokitha war auch sehr schön, aufgrund von 5 Booten und der entsprechenden Anzahl an Leuten sehr überlaufen und voll - lässt sich vermutlich nicht vermeiden und die Organisatoren trifft hier keine Schuld. Man sollte sich dessen nur bewusst sein. Das Highlight der Tour war Spinalonga. Dabei wurde uns die Möglichkeit gegeben uns einer geführten Tour anzuschließen oder nach kurzer Einweisung und mit geschichtlichen Hintergrund die Insel selber zu erkunden. Die Geschichte und der Ort an sich sind sehr interessant. Ebenfalls sollte man sich bewusst sein, dass man viel im Bus unterwegs ist, um nicht nur zu den Orten zu kommen, sondern auch die Reiseteilnehmer einzusammeln, aber auch das ist eigentlich der Standard- wollte hier aber noch mal erwähnt werden. Für alle die sich sehr für einen schönen Teil von Kretas Ostens interessieren und mit Menschenmassen und getaktetem Zeitplan klar kommen, ist diese Tour zu empfehlen. Wer es ruhiger mag, sollte ggf. Auf eine Safari oder die eigene Erkundung mit einem Mietwagen ausweichen.

Efficiently run. The tour guides were excellent. And the barbecue made for us on the beach was very good. The cost of food and drink and ice creams on the boat was very reasonable. I would strongly recommend and it’s not as expensive booking direct rather than through your travel company. All places visited were thoroughly worthwhile.

Enjoyed our stops. Found more time was spent on the bus than expected. We came from Heraklion do lots of pick ups and drop offs Ended up 8am -8pm. We did enjoy our activities and it was well orchestrated. Lunch …the pork chop was very yummy. I liked the time we had at the beach to walk or swim Spinalongo was cool place. Would have like for more details from the tour guide and more time here. The stop at Agia Nikolas was fine
