We can enjoy our lunch at the picturesque harbor or visit the famous Agora (Market), which houses traditional little shops and taverns. Here we can buy souvenirs or leather goods in very good prices.

  • Lake Kournas, Kournas, Greece
    Leaving this extraordinary city, we arrive at the quaint Kournas Lake, a beautiful habitat with natural freshwater, one of a kind on Crete. Lush greenery, steep cavities between hills, rare species of fish and birds, like eels, moorhens and two-color turtles, make Kournas the ideal place to enjoy a swim before our lunch or an early afternoon walk. The whole area of Kournas is protected under Natura 2000, as it has been a designated wetland. Going back, we stop in Rethimnon, the third biggest town on Crete, where monuments of the archaeological, Ottoman and Venetian eras coexist, in an extremely interesting way. Have a stroll in the alleys of the old town, visit the Turkish minarets and the Venetian fortresses or just enjoy your coffee in the magnificent harbor.

    The description of this tour states "Max of 20 per group". It also mentions a duration of 13-14hrs. Neither were accurate. A small gripe to begin with - we were given a pick up point at a hotel that was a 30 min uphill walk away. Having met us, the minibus came back down the hill and picked up another group about 5 minutes away from our accommodation. Not sure why it wasn't co-ordinated better. We were then surprised to be driven to a layby and transferred onto a double decker coach (I would estimate carrying 100+ people). It was already full so only limited seats were available. The seat in front of us was broken and although the occupant apologised, my husband spent the entire trip with very little legroom. The 'professional and multilingual speaking guide' sounded like someone reading from Wikipedia and at times it was difficult to understand the commentary. We returned to Agia Pelagia at 6.45pm - not quite the 13-14hrs advertised but to be honest, it was a relief to be off the coach. I have booked many enjoyable tours, in many cities, but I was very disappointed with this one. If we'd had any idea that it wasn't a small tour (as advertised) we would have looked elsewhere. The description is totally misleading and it felt like we'd been subcontracted out onto a much bigger tour. I have emailed Any Destination with my feedback and after 6 days have had no reply. Not sure that customer satisfaction is that high on their priorities.

    Très belle excursion avec trois guides parlant 4 langues. Les villes de Rethymno et Chania sont très jolies. La visite du lac devrait se faire le matin pour avoir une meilleure luminosité. L’excursion est longue. Départ à notre hôtel à 8.00 am et retour à 21:30 pm... deux heures de ramassage de clients à l’aller et deux heures au retour!!! Peut-être qu’ub Système de navette vers un point central serait approprié.
