Enjoy an incredible e-bike tour with wine tasting in the countryside of Heraklion, Crete. Starting and ending in front of Pankritio Stadium west of Heraklion and heading towards the hills and mountains of Crete, this tour allows its participants to discover the Cretan inland by e-bike without sweating or getting tired. The small picturesque villages, old historical orthodox churches and chapels, and unique centenary trees reward all visitors with their beauty and history. At the end of the tour a 4 cretan wines tasting with some greek meze will take place and after that we will be transported by car back to our starting point.

  • Gournes, Gournes, Greece
    We start west of Heraklion from the beach of Ammoudara and head south towards the hinterland of Crete. After leaving the urban area behind us we enter a rural area full of vineyards and olive groves. On one side of the route we can see the holy mountain of Yioukta and on the other the highest mountain of Crete, Psiloritis. The first village we meet is Gournes, a small village built on a hill.

    After Athanatoi the road becomes uphill until we reach the almost uninhabited village of Xirolia. Here we change our direction and we ride west.

  • Dafnes, Dafnes, Greece
    We then head west and after a few kilometers we reach the capital of wine in Crete, the village of Dafnes. Here the well-known wine festival takes place every year in July. In this area there are many wineries that produce the best wines of Crete.

    In this village we taste 5 different wines, accompanied by Cretan cheese, rusks and olives.

Highly recommend this e-bike tour with Aris, where we rode out of the city to the beautiful hilltop villages of Crete. Vineyards and Olive groves lined the journey right up to the beautiful village of Dafnes. Ferrniki Douloufaki the Vintner of Daf wines shared her story of the winery. This hidden gem of wonderful Crete wines is a must for anyone wanting to see the real Crete. Thank you Aris for a fantastic day.

Tiefer in die kretische Natur auf urigen Pfaden einzudringen ist Dank Adams ansteckender Fahrradbegeisterung und aufrichtiger Fürsorge kaum möglich. Wir hätten noch ewig weiterbiken und uns an den Panoramen hügeliger grüner Landschaften kaum schöner sattsehen können, hätte sich hinter den historischen Mauern einer ursprünglichen Taverne die Möglichkeit eröffnet von den Früchten der Insel aus erlesenen Flaschen in herzlicher Gesellschaft zu kosten. So wird Kreta in sattesten Farben und erlesensten Aromen noch lange in uns ein uriges Wohlgefühl wecken. Dankeschön den Gastgebern.
