Our first stop is at the village of Kritsa, famous for its long history since the era of the ancient city of LATO until the Ottoman times. The village features the important religious monument of Panagia KERA, which dates back to the 12th century. We continue towards Katharo Plateau (altitude 1200m) through the cypress forest where we see goats, sheep and if we get lucky, we may even witness Cretan vultures in the wild. It is an excellent occasion to take photos of the MIRA A BELO Gulf, a name given by the Venetians and means “beautiful view”. We then move southwards to Selakano forest, which is famous for the unique, high quality honey that is produced there. We will cool off at Sarakina Gorge, a gorge of easy access for all. Photos of this breathtaking landscape will impress your friends. We continue towards the southernmost point in Europe, that is, the fishing village of Myrtos. It is time for a swim, shopping or a cup of tea by the Libyan Sea.

If you want to get away from the crowded beaches and see Crete’s wilder side, book this tour! We were so glad we did — Nikos took all the stress out of planning by driving us to places we’d never have found on our own. We started in the charming village of Kritsa — beautiful old houses, tiny streets, and lovely local shops. Then we headed up to Katharo Plateau — the views up there are amazing, with mountains, goats, and endless olive groves. We stopped for photos whenever we wanted, and Nikos knew the best spots. The Selakano forest was a surprise — so green and peaceful, perfect for a short walk. And the Sarakina Gorge was the highlight for us — dramatic rocks and a fun, easy walk through the gorge (bring sturdy shoes!). Having Nikos as our guide made the day so much better. He’s friendly, knows so much about the island, and shares cool stories you won’t read online. A few quick tips: Bring water, wear comfy shoes, and charge your phone — you’ll take tons of photos. If you want to see Crete off the beaten track without the headache of planning, this is the tour. Thanks, Nikos — we’d do it again in a heartbeat!

Eine tolle Tour in kleine Bergdörfer Kretas mit wunderbaren Ausblicken.. typisch griechischem Essen supernetten Menschen , die etwas von Kreta und seinen Einwohnern erzählen und jeweils das Highlight zusätzlich noch die Sakarina oder eben die Ritchis Schlucht … absolut empfehlenswert diese Touren !!!!!

An absolutely incredible trip! Nikos was amazing tour guide and showed us all the sights with immense history and information. He is extremely knowledgeable and knows a lot about local plants and vegetation! A great lunch stop with authentic Greek food too! Highly recommend this trip!
