Cretan Wines & Olive oil tour - The treasures of Crete

This was hands down my favourite private tour ever. ❤️Rodoula picked us up right in front of our Airbnb which was very convenient. Rodoula is the kindest, warmest person and so full of energy! She drove us to the olive oil mill, and on our way we already started to learn more about Cretan delicacies and culture from her. We met one of the family members of the mill who was so friendly and kind and really explained the whole process well! We had some amazing olive oils, bread and cheese there, and then headed to our wine tasting next. The place was beautiful and the winery was a very unique experience ❤️ The owners and staff were so lovely and friendly. It’s owned by three wonderful women. We then headed to another family owned rakia and wine distillery where we also had our amazing lunch. The brothers were so warm and really took their time to talk to us and make us feel welcomed. The food there was so fresh and organic and in abundance! Our last stop was the pottery studio where we came across some amazing art work as well. If you’re looking for a private, personal and cultural immersive tour, this is the best one you could go for! I couldn’t recommend it more. We left with our hearts and stomachs full and I will be raving about this to all my family & friends for a long long time! Thank you so much Rodoula, and to everyone we met during our tour. What an amazing and authentic experience day- wine a plenty, delicious food and wonderful company! There was excellent communication about the organisation of the day and we were picked up from our hotel entrance which was really handy. Our lovely tour guide greeted us and made us feel very comfortable and excited for the day. The day was full of interesting information about local produce such as olive oil, wines, raki and pottery; it was so nice to learn about the traditions that are associated with this produce and Crete. There is so much value placed upon carrying forward family skills and tradition which is very heartwarming. Each place we visited was also very hospitable and many included breads and cheese to sample. The owners were all very friendly and welcoming and our guide’s ability to translate everything into English was exceptional. This tour was very immersive and engaging throughout. The day flew due to many elements being hands on; we even bottled our own wine and made our own pottery on a potter’s wheel to take home! The day then ended with a delicious lunch at a taverna with food which was so tasty and fresh. Overall, as you can see, this is an experience not to be missed; we urge anyone who wants to experience authentic Crete, whilst supporting local businesses, to book onto this excursion! What really stood out for us in our whole day, was how knowledgable and friendly our tour guide was- she even gave us a thank you bag at the end. She made the experience for us and this has been the highlight of our holiday… efharisto Cretan vioma!

The best tour we had! Good variety of activities our guide was very friendly and we got to taste and experience true Cretan life. Our favourite was filling and corking our own bottle of wine - we'll save it for a special occasion. Also good that the group is super small, so experience feels very personal.
