The beauty of the caves is enhanced by multi-coloured stalactites and stalagmites of various shapes including curtains and limestone pools. In the afternoon part of the visit you will enjoy the scenic ride to the most charming town on the Slovenian coast – Piran. You will certainly enjoy the small-town ideal to wander around for a coffee, cake, gelato or some good fresh seafood.  Visit the Unesco heritage listed Škocjan caves, a majestic underground river canyon, and let it take you to world of fantasy. The exceptional volume of the underground canyon is what distinguishes the Škocjan Caves from other caves and places and is easily placed among the most famous underground features in the world. In the afternoon enjoy a scenic ride towards the Slovenian coast. Stop at Socerb castle for breath-taking views of the Slovenian coast and the Gulf of Trieste. Once in Piran you will discover the most romantic and picturesque coastal town. Piran is a tourist highlight of the Slovenian coast, strongly influenced by the old Venetian Republic. The main square is named after Giuseppe Tartini, a famous violinist and a composer who was born in Piran.

You will soon realize that Piran is a town that is almost impossible not to fall in love with on your first visit. Walk through its narrow medieval streets wedged between beautiful houses, churches and squares and enjoy the breeze that blows from the sea. Your guide will tell you about the historical part of the town and show you the marvelous Venetian architecture. Take your time to enjoy a cup of coffee, gelato or some good fresh food. After a well spend day we will end the tour in Ljubljana, with a drop-off at your hotel.

  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.

We had a fantastic day out and thought this was an excellent mixture of activities for the day. The caves were amazing and felt less hectic and touristy than the Postojna caves (which we also enjoyed on a different day). We liked the option to walk back from the cave exit and see some more of the nature around there. We loved the views from Piran wall (and would recommend not skipping them out). Piran was nice and we enjoyed a dip in the sea to cool down on a very hot day. Our guide was friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the area and would definitely recommend this trip.

The Skocjan Caves were an absolute must-see. My only regret is there wasn't enough time to see the longer route out of the caves - something I will have to do on a return visit. Piran was beautiful and I highly recommend taking your swimming costume and having a swim in the sea - a lovely way to cool down. I went on 2 tours with Slovenian Explorer and their buses are very comfortable and the drivers wear microphones so that you can hear them guide. This wasn't the case in other tour operator's buses, so I really recommend finding tours by Slovenian Explorer. Thank you to guide of the day George!

A brilliant day out. The caves are something else. I could spend hours in them. The coast town is good as well. You’re given plenty of time to explore it. Guide was good and kept us all on time.
