The Inca ruins were phenomenal. The engineering behind them all was truly amazing.
Our guide, Renso was totally fun to be with. Very patient with me as I dealt with the altitude sickness.
He was very knowledgeable.
We felt very comfortable to ask multiple questions and at anytime.

El viaje a Peru fue todo lo que esperaba y más. Me gusto much viajar con Kaypi Tours.

The 10 day tour to Peru was absolutely amazing. Upon arrival in Lima myself and my travel buddy met up with the other personnel in our group and we were transported to our hotel in Miraflores. Allpa Hotel &Suites met my expectations (the room was very clean and roomy enough for two). After a good night's sleep, we began our adventure with our tour guides Renso and Franco. We toured the city of Lima and visited the historic center of Lima, Huaca Pucllana and the San Francisco Monastery and Catacombs. We did a lot of walking and I was very grateful that the weather was comfortable. We ended the day with dinner where I ate a delicious alpaca meal. We then had time to venture out on our own.
Day 3: with backpacks packed for our overnight stay we were headed to Puno via air. Upon arrival in Puno, I immediately felt the change in elevation (shortness of breath and headachy) We checked into our hotel, ate lunch and the rest of the afternoon was ours to da as we wish.
Day4: we loaded up on a motor boat, met Roger our tour guide and started our 4hr trip to Uros Floating Island. What an experience!!! When I stepped off the boat unto the island I prayed that my foot would not go through the reeds and I end up drinking half of Lake Titicaca :) Cudos to the Uros people for maintaining their traditions. Next we travelled to Amantani Island where we met our designated family who we would spend the rest of the day and night with. After a delicious lunch provided by Orlando & Monica (Catarina & Jospeh - children) our hosts, the group took the trek to the Temples of the Pachamama and Pachatata and observed the sunset from the mountain top. I did not participate because i was struggling to catch my breath and my knees were on fire. As much cocoa leaves as I had in my cheeks, the elevation was trying to break me :(
Day 5: after breakfast, we hiked to our hosts garden plot and assisted with harvesting potato (Peru has over 300 different kinds and quinoa is also a big crop/staple). For lunch, all the host families and their guests met in one location and we ate lunch sitting on the ground and enjoying the sunshine and each other's company. Once lunch was over it was time to head back to Puno with a short stop at Taquile Island for shopping and an opportunity to try rainbow trout.
Day 6: Early morning bus trip to Cusco with stops at Pukara market, La Raya Pass, Raqchi Archeological Site and Andahuaylillas Church. Return to hotel
Day 7: Trip to Rainbow Mountain was canceled due to weather and we visited Chinchero Textile Center, the Sacred Valley, Ollantaytambo and Salt Mines of Maras.
Day 8: With backpack packed for overnight stay in Aguas Clientes, we visited a Alpaca Farm Factory and then caught the train (2hr ride) to Machu Picchu.
Day 9: The big culmination of the trip - bus ride to Machu Picchu and 2hr walking tour of the site. At the starting point of our hike, a surprise engagement was done by a couple in our group. It was a very touching experience and she said yes. I have to give a big thank you to Franco for assisting me on the tour of Machu Picchu because my knees were screaming louder than a bull horn and even though I had been taking elevation sickness pills and also doing the cooa leaves, I was still feeling the effects of the elevation. I came, I saw and I conquered.
Day 10: Goodbye Peru, thanks for the experience
To the group members - it was a pleasure meeting each of you and thanks to everyone for looking out for each other. Looking forward to Egypt 2024
To Franco, your knowledge of and passion for your country were evident in your presentations. You are truly a professional at what you do and a valuable asset to Kaypi Peru Tours. Truly a pleasure having you as a tour guide.
