Kotor Old City, Kotor, Montenegro Travelers will see one of the best preserved and most beautiful medieval fortified towns in the Mediterranean. It was built in honor of Saint Tryphon (local name Sveti Tripun), the patron and protector of the city, on the same site where an older church had already existed long ago. That earlier church was built in 809 by Andrija (Andreaccio) Saracenis, a citizen of Kotor, where the remains of the saint were kept after being brought from Constantinople (now also known as Istanbul). 120 minutes

Tour was canceled due to rough seas but nobody ever notified us, We waited over an hour before we left our meeting point. We tried to the local provider 3 or 4 times but nobody ever answered the phone. I would avoid Smiley tours at all costs.

Ivo was a wonderful tour guide for our small group trip to Monte Negro. He was very friendly and during the van ride to Perest, Kotor and Budva he gave us an extensive amount of information and passed around maps and books on the history on each place before we arrived. There was sufficient amount of time at each place to wander on your own. The black mountains make a beautiful backdrop scenery. We had a lovely breakfast of fresh oysters, coffee, and burrata salad in Perest (our first stop) From there we went to Kotor where we hiked the 1000+ steps to reach the top of St. John ruins. A must do if you want to see some beautiful views of the city and surrounding area. Afterwards, we went to Budva and explored the old town before having lunch consisting of oysters and salads with a bottle of local white wine. I would definitely recommend this trip and hopefully you will be lucky enough to have Ivo as your tour guide because he does an outstanding job!
