Then settle into your comfortable seat aboard an air-conditioned vehicle and travel north to Split, roughly three hours away. As you travel, gaze out at the gorgeous coastal scenery and listen to your guide talk about the day’s itinerary.
Split, Split, Croatia On arrival, hop out of your minivan and set off on a walking tour of the coastal city's sights. With your guide leading the way, see the UNESCO-listed Diocletian’s Palace, a colossal imperial residence in the heart of Split Old Town.
Head inside (own expense) for a stroll around Peristyle Square and to see the Cathedral of St Duje with its magnificent bell tower, as well as the Temple of Jupiter, a beautifully preserved Roman monument. As you wander, hear tales of the extravagant Emperor Diocletian and learn how the palace was featured in the hit HBO TV series Game of Thrones as the city of Meereen.
After touring the palace, continue on to Republic Square (Prokurative), a Mediterranean-style plaza lined with striking neo-Renaissance buildings, and pass by the Ivan Meštrović Gallery. Following your 1.5-hour walking tour, enjoy around three hours of free time to continue sightseeing independently. When you’ve worked up an appetite, head to a local restaurant for a traditional Dalmatian lunch (own expense).

Split Day trip from Dubrovnik is a great choice for first time traveler to Croatia. Diocletian Palace is worth to see. Just my family of 3 in the tour but our driver/guide is very accomodating and professional which makes us feel comfortable. Spectacular view of adriatic sea along the coast as well.
