We pick up from most hotels in Bogota. Please provide pickup details upon booking. Times are subject to local traffic conditions and hotel location.

    (1) After picking you up at 7 a.m, listen as your guide allows you insights into Colombian history and culture while enjoying the scenery of the Bogotanian countryside.

    (2) Upon arriving at Chicaque, try some typical snacks, and do some stretching exercises. Hike through nature trails as you gaze at the distinct beauty of the scenery while listening to your guide share in-depth insights into the landscape. (3) Spot as many birds as you can—toucans, hummingbirds, turkeys, and many more. Also, look out for mammals such as wild cats, armadillos, sloth bears, and funny little monkeys. Besides, 98% of amphibians in the Colombian mountain ranges are endemic. See if you can spot some of these little friends too! (4) Enjoy the Colombian cuisine in the middle of a cloud forest. (5) As you go back to the starting point, learn about endangered vegetation and exotic flowers—17 species of orchids.

The guide was fantastic, just incredibly knowledgable, and the transportation top notch. Had a spectacular hike and took many wonderful photos. Great experience!

Horseback ride on the way back up the mountain. We opted to do this despite the small extra fee, it was the perfect ending to an amazing day. The forest is gorgeous with all the fog and flora and fauna. David’s (our tour guide) background in biology gave us a unique perspective on learning all about the forest. Highly recommend him and the horses!!!

We are both novice hikers and not serious bird watchers. All we really wanted was time in the Andean forests, and that is what we got! The scenery was gorgeous and the views were breathtaking. And, that's not just the altitude talking!. Our guide, David, was not only knowledgeable about birds, but he was able to identify and educate us about the plants, insects, and animals we saw. We were unlucky with birds, but that could be because of the time of day. The only tip I would suggest is to be sure to bring hiking shoes/boots and not sneakers. At Chicaque, be prepared to start at the top and climb your way down via rocky trails. Some folkx opted to walk up the road, but we highly recommend taking the offered ride back up. We loved the day!
