    In the morning we'll leave Muscat towards Wadi Bani Awf. The road leads us through the Wadi, we'll pass by impressive Wadi Canyons (Snake Canyon) and several small villages and the most beautiful village is Balad Sayt surrounded by mountains from all directions, its located in the east Al Hajar mountains.

  • Nakhal Fort, Nakhl, Oman
    From there we continue our tour to Nakhal, where you can visit the beautiful Nakhal Fortress, it lies at the foothills of the mountains in a nice small town that grows extensive date palm plantations. This magnificent 1500-year-old fortress rises out of the mountain rock, towering high above the ancient village as if still warning would-be attackers of its ominous strength, It has witnessed many battles and is packed full of hidden escape routes and secret passages, You can stroll around the inside of this restored fortress and visit all the rooms which have been nicely decorated in the original old style, the view from the top of the fortress over the mountains and green date plantations is outstanding.

    From Nakhal Fort we visit the hot spring, the spring is tucked away among date farms a couple of kilometers from Nakhal Fort, and it flows year-round with warm mineral water collected in the site pools several chairs and shades are provided in the “picnic area” near the pool. From the hot spring, we drive back to Muscat

Excellente excursion d une journée avec notre guide chauffeur Ali, très compétent et très serviable. Le programme prévu a été respecté à l exception du fort Nakhal qui est en travaux. Ali nous a laissé le loisir de marcher dans le beau village de Balad Sayt et ses jardins, de descendre du véhicule pour prendre des photos. Nous avons terminé le programme par un excellent déjeuner où nous avons découvert le plat typique d Oman : le shuwa ( agneau cuit à feu doux très longuement). Je conseille vivement cette sortie.
