Depart from Athens with a private executive car or mini van and drive through the fertile plain of Boeotia, crossing the town of Thebes, world-renowned for its tragic story of King Oedipus. Reach Thermopylae and marvel the landscape and monument of King Leonidas. Continue through the picturesque towns of Livadeia and Arachova on the slopes of Mount Parnassus. Upon arrival at Delphi, explore the "Omphalos" ("Navel of the Earth") and marvel at the ruins of an ancient sanctuary that grew rich as the seat of the oracle. Take your time and admire the views of a landscape of unparalleled beauty. See the remains of the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios, and visit the Treasury of the Athenians. Later on your private driver will recommend a nice place to have a great meal at the best restaurant overlooking the sea and the rich olive tree valley. As you return, stop in Arachova to stretch your legs and grab a coffee, pastry, tea or wine.

    Stop at the battlefield of Thermopylae, where the Battle of Thermopylae was fought between an alliance of Ancient Greek city-states, led by King Leonidas I of Sparta, and the Achaemenid Empire of Xerxes I. It was fought in 480 BC over the course of three days, during the second Persian invasion of Greece. Marvel the Leonidas monument that was erected in 1955 and created by the sculptor Vasos Falireas. The brass sculpture of the Spartan King with his spear and shield is truly amazing. Next to the monument of Leonidas, lies the information center of Thermopyale battle in which you can watch a very informative video of about 10 minutes.

    Once in Delphi, head to the UNESCO-listed mountainside archaeological site, one of Greece’s most significant. Next, tour the ruins and shed light on the site’s oracle, an ancient priestess who conveyed messages from the god Apollo. Admire the Temple of Apollo and other monuments, and then visit the Archaeological Museum to view its artifacts, including the Charioteer of Delphi and Sphinx of Naxos.

We had an amazing trip to Delphi and Thermopylae. Our driver George was fantastic. Extremely well read, articulate and amusing. My 14 year old was captivated by his stories. Delphi is gorgeous. So much history. Also Thermopylae, while not as visited as Delphi was very interesting. The sulphuric hot springs are a great spot. The trip was easygoing and George was very thoughtful keeping our needs in mind. We’re huge animal lovers and loved that George brought bread with him to feed one of his stray dog friends at Thermopylae. Highly recommend Crispy Local and George. You will not be disappointed.

This was an amazing trip beyond expectations. Mr. George was fantastic and so informative and full of historical information. Highly recommend this. And to top it off he took us to an amazing restaurant in Delphi. Some of the best food we’ve had all trip. The store is a must!

My guide for the tour was Mr Yannis. The drive was smooth. Loved the countryside and the views. On the route I was told the story about the Oracle on Delphi and many other historical as well as Greek mythological facts. Even though the tour was booked on a very short notice, everything was arranged perfectly. The pickup was right on time as per the plan. I was left for exploring the archaeological site as per my convenience. There was no time limit for spending time at the sites/museums. The trip ends with lunch at a restaurant curated by the team. Crispylocal is truly recommended for those who love to spend their time at sites as per their own convenience since all the tours are 100% customisable and private.
