Lost Haitises National Park has breath-taking views. We have kayaked through mangrove forests and on lakes and had the chance to see rare birds up-close. The kayaks are for 2 people and they're easy to paddle.
There were no other tourists but us, so we had all the nature just for ourselves. Rest assured, it is very safe - no strong currents on the rivers and lake and no dangerous wildlife. We only met two friendly locals on the beach near a cave. They were chopping fresh coconuts so we had a nice refreshment right there.
The hiking was short but nice - just some mild hills and no jungle. The nature is very generous though so you can expect fruit trees like mangoes, avocados and others just a stone's throw away.
Our tour guide Jose was very knowledgeable and funny. He introduced us to the nature and history of the park.
The pick up was not great though. I'd advise everyone to contact the company after making the booking to make sure they see it. We arrived at 7 in the morning at the meeting point and had to wait 1.5h as they forgot about us!
Other than this organisational aspect, we had a great experience.
