Luxury Sunset Party Boat

It took a bit to confirm a "sunset" cruise---as once booked we were asked if we wanted a Noon or 3pm "party boat"... We were looking for time on the water and a beautiful sunset sounded great--already staying at an all inclusive, we simply didn't need more food/drink... What was arranged was very special and spectacular. As we booked several excursions this week with Renny, it seems they went above and beyond and got approval for our boat to stay out later than usual and while we had the "usual" party boat experience, we ended close to sunset after any other boat and we had the boat to ourselves. Wasn't needed, but was nice. We had 4 excursions with Renny, and 3 of them were outstanding. We did recommend that if not a sunset event, they should change the title or at least be clear to avoid challenges for others moving forward.

It was a complete nightmare and I wish we never wasted our money and our precious time on this activity. Let me walk you through our experience and you’ll be the judge. As soon as we arrived to (the location) Bibihagua , the check in room was so crowded that it was difficult to enter the room. No one was wearing a mask and there are no efforts whatsoever to protect you from Covid like social distancing. They didn’t even take a temperature check to make sure that the people in their tour are not showing symptoms. After we check in, the check in person hands you over to another worker, who then leads you to the souvenir stores they work with and pressure you to buying stuff. They lie to you and tell you that you’ll have no time after the boat ride to shop for souvenirs so you have to do it now. Only after you make a purchase does the person lead you to the boat that leads you to the catamaran. As soon as we entered the Catamaran, I immediately realized that we just signed up for hours of anxiety. The listing for the tour said that it is a shared tour with fifteen people, but instead, there were at least 60 of us crammed in there. We spent the most of our time during the boat ride trying to find an empty corner of the boat to distance ourselves from others. Had I known that there were that many people in the tour, I never would have wasted our money. The tour guides in the boat hardly help you either. They pretty much tell you not to snorkel if you don’t know how to swim, instead of offering life vests. And the snorkel stop was about a rushed 20 mins so if you can’t keep up with the group, then you’re on your own. After the snorkeling, the open bar begins and they literally make no efforts trying to protect the food and drinks they hand out. I literally saw a kid in the tour touch 6 different fruit skewers after he sneezed in front of the tour guide before selecting one. They immediately offered me the same plate of sneezed on food right after, which I had to take a HARD PASS on. They hustle you for every penny you’ve got. There are camera people on the boat who are initially friendly with you and mislead you to believe that the photos they’re taking are part of the package, until later on when they pretty much harass you into paying 125$ for the pictures. If you say no, they will lower the price but they will pester you again and again and again until you bend and buy at least one pic. For the “natural pools” part of the tour, they take you to a crowded area of the ocean where all the rest of the other tour boats anchor. Another Covid nightmare. As soon as your feet touch water, you are then attacked by hordes of peddlers selling alcohol, souvenirs, banana boat rides etc. Forget about actually having time to enjoy a swim. You will spend every minute being sold something. Lastly, even though I paid for a SUNSET BOAT RIDE, the catamaran returns to the original docking point before the sun even gets anywhere near the horizon. You know that the tour is over when the tour guides harass you repeatedly for a tip. Only After they get some cash from you can you go inside the smaller boat where they cram All of us shoulder to shoulder so we can go back to shore. Again, no one except us was wearing a mask and you are crammed literally skin to skin with other strangers. You could literally feel each other breathe on your skin. The whole tour was literally the most miserable 3-4 hours of our trip. I wish I could take back those precious minutes of our vacation and spend them doing literally anything but this. If you like spending your time risking exposing yourself to COVID then go ahead and book this. But if you don’t like wasting money and having a miserable time being hustled for all your cash, then do yourself a favor and find another tour.
