The Hill of Tara was the famous seat of the High Kings of Ireland. On this self-guided GPS walking tour, you’ll discover why Tara was and still is an important spiritual center. My story brings you all the way from the arrival of the first farmers in the Boyne Valley through to the dawn of Christianity. We’ll explore the essence of Celtic spirituality and peer through a window into Ireland’s Iron Age, a time of druids, saints and kings. You can look forward to: • One of the oldest Stone Age passage tombs in Ireland and other archaeological discoveries at the Hill of Tara. • Portals to the otherworld of the fairies and other folk traditions associated with Tara. • Testing your courage – and your stomach – against the trials of being a king in ancient Ireland and the unsavory practices associated with kingship here at the Hill of Tara And if you’d like to take part in an Irish tradition then please bring a piece of degradable cloth with you on this walk.     Incredible experience. I think, i enjoyed this just about as much as a live tour. The virtual tour was accurate and directions were easy to follow.

    I feel like this tour is pretty awesome but being a photographer I kept getting distracted taking photos and losing track of where I was in the tour, not listening to the directions correctly because of the accent and not understanding some of the words he was saying. Sooo much amazing information! I had hired a taxi who would only wait an hour and I think I only got about halfway through the tour when I had to leave. I don't even know how long the tour was as the recording didn't give me a time frame meanwhile people that were coming down from the hill told me it was only 15 minutes. I was up there well over 90 minutes and only got halfway through. It's really sad that people will throw trash inside of the Tombs. I can't believe the disrespect these days.

    Very interesting information given. Just a little unsure sometimes if we were in the right place. It was evident we were after moving on in the tour that we actually were following correctly. I would have liked a little info about the church that was there.
