We booked our tour of Scotland with Alba Adventure in February 2020. Little did we know that it would be more than two years before we were able to take our trip. Throughout the process, David communicated with us about the status of COVID restrictions in Scotland and worked closely with us to find the right time for our tour. When we finally decided to take our trip in May 2022, David developed a phenomenal itinerary that catered to our interests (hiking, photography, and history).
The tour itself was absolutely brilliant. Highlights of the trip included visits to historical sites such as the Culloden battlefield, the Antonine Wall, and a Broch on the Isle of Skye; hikes like the Quiraing and the Storr on the Isle of Skye and an old military road in Glencoe National Park; and various hidden gems like St. Conan’s Kirk. By far the best part of our trip was our guide, Neil. Throughout the trip, Neil mixed his local knowledge and understanding of history and culture to provide a unique experience that helped us connect the places we saw and stories we learned with the broader historical context that created modern Scotland. He had amazing food and drink recommendations along the way; and he quickly adapted to the unpredictable weather by adjusting our plans to allow for more outdoor time while avoiding the worst of the rain. This was one of the best travel experiences we’ve ever had and we would most definitely recommend Alba Adventure and Neil to anyone planning a trip to Scotland.
