2 Day Safari in the White and Black Desert

We deden de 3 dagen, 2 nachten in de witte woestijn. Het was een ervaring om nooit te vergeten! Het was prachtig, stil, relax, ... . Hamada is een geweldige gids en spreekt goed Engels en Nederlands! With a couple of un-arranged nights at the end of our trip to Eygpt we were recommended to contact Hamada for a private two night desert tour. Flying in from Aswan we were collected by taxi for the 4 hour drive to Bahariya Oasis and met Hamada and Aimn. Departing by 4x4 we drove south into the Black desert where we set up camp for the night. All very well organised and once camp set up Aimn started preparing dinner. The food is fantastic, all fresh and sourced from the oasis. We explored the surrounding area before dinner and sat around the fire afterwards discussing Bedouin culture. A comfortable night under canvas and warm under the camel blankets. We woke to the rising sun, breakfast before de-camping and setting off further south. On route we stopped at a Bedouin village, discovered Crystals in the crystal mountains. Our off road route took us deep into the desert to see the changing views of the desert. Stopping for lunch, again prepared by Aimn at a small oasis surrounded by desert. After lunch we ventured into the white desert, truly spectacular with the wind carved monoliths of white rock. Finding our location to camp, we explored the area with many photo opportunities as the guys set up camp. Dinner was delicious as Hamada cooked Duck, Bedouin style over the wood fire. We ate the duck as the full moon rose, spectacular with the moon light lighting the white rocks surrounding us. A reasonably comfortable night we rose as the sun came over the horizon to a bitterly cold morning temperature close to freezing. (Bring some warm clothing as desert can be very cold at night) after breakfast we de-camped again we travelled off road through the white desert and back to the black desert to see a particular rock formations that Hamada wanted to show us. We then returned to the start point oasis for lunch, before returning to Cairo. Hamada and Aimn are terrific, great fun and very knowledgable about the desert and its environment. If you are looking for a couple nights adventure in a location you have no experience of, I would suggest this tour. Totally 5* recommendation.

We slept 2 nights at the desert and we enjoyed every second of it. Hamada is a great guide, he has studied to be able to share the most accurate history of egypt and to prodive the best guidance. We slept 2 nights on the white desert and wished we would had time for a third night. It is definetely worth spending 3 nights on the white desert. Hamada and his experienced driver chose the most quiet places for the night for us. Thanks to that we could experience the feeling of being alone in the desert. His driver was also a great cook and we enjoyed sitting on the fire at night hearing the stories of the locals and hearing Hamada and the driver sing if joy (it was not a pull over act for the tourist). We were in November in the desert, the day were sunny but not to hot and the nights were chill but not to cold. Just the perfect weather! We saw one night a stary night and one wild dog. This tour was definetely our favourite part of egypt and we hope we can come back one day again.
