After some shopping around online, I came across Oceanus tours here on TripAdvisor. If you're reading this review, you too are probably going through the same shopping around process.
I reached out via WhatsApp after reading previous reviews. Communication was swift and clear. I was able to get quotes quickly for the trips I wanted to do with my family. The price was at least $70 cheaper than other places. I was worried that the quality of the transfers and tours would be compromised due to the price but I was pleasantly surprised.
Ahmed our driver picked us up in a large air-conditioned mini bus from Hurghada. I arranged for us to do a stop over at the Dandara Temple. This is where we met Ahmed the tour guide. One of the biggest challenges when doing tours with children is keeping them engaged. Ahmed was great, sharing just the right information to keep us all intrigued. We even had a mini class in hieroglyphics!
I booked a driver and guide for 3 days, to tour West and East Bank. This was again very reasonable at $150 for 3 days. We did have to pay entrance fees for sites on top but Ahmed was very helpful in getting tickets for us. Do have Egyptian cash to make paying faster at sites.
We visited: Valley of Kings, Habu Temple, Karnak Temple and Abou al Haggag mosque. We made a choice to view Colossi Memon, Ramses 2 Temple, Hatshepsut temple and luxor temple from the outside. We also made a trip to the souk in Luxor. We had a lovely buffet meal organised by Ahmed. Equally we chose not to visit the Albaster factory, often described as a tourist trap. Ahmed respected our wishes and didn't try to hard sell us. They were always on time and happy to change plans to suit us as a family.
A big thanks to Oceanus, to Ahmed our driver and Ahmed our tour guide.
