We had a mixed experience with this tour. I rated a 3, because while it has the potential to be an outstanding tour, our tour guide was rather rude. During this tour, we explored the bowels of Cairo - literally. We drove through the old parts of town to see how the locals live and eat. Even after seeing much of Cairo, this tour is very interesting and is eye-opening! We stopped and ate at one "hole in the wall" outdoor street-side restaurant and while the area was not very appetizing, the food was good. After 48 hours - still no stomach problems :-)). We then stopped along a busy street and drank some tea. Interesting, but not great. We then were planning to go for another meal, but after realizing that the restaurant was in the same area as the local butcher market souk (lots of meat hanging outside, including a cow head), we lost our appetite and decided to call it a night. We did stop and gulped down a sugar cane drink, which lasted about 5 minutes. Even though we thought we liked exotic, this was just a bit too exotic for us. Our suggestion would be to target some restaurants that are cleaner and more protected from the elements (exhaust fumes, dust and honking horns from passing traffic). With some tweaks, this tour could truly be a winner. Regarding our tour guide, he spent more time talking on the phone than he did talking to us, which we thought was rude and demonstrated his lack of interest in us.
