In calmer moments the square shows the wear and tear of revolution but is pretty central to modern Egyptian political life. Just west of the roundabout is a street called El-Tahrir Street. It is covered in murals depicting the revolutionary feelings. Great artwork. Warm people. Depending on the political climate, worth taking a look. 30 minutes

Al Moez Ldin Allah Al Fatmi, El-Gamaleya, El Gamaliya, Cairo Governorate, Egypt Is a major north-to-south street in the walled city of historic Cairo, Egypt. It is one of Cairo's oldest streets as it dates back to the foundation of the city (not counting the earlier Fustat) by the Fatimid dynasty in the 10th century, under their fourth caliph, Al-Mu'izz li-Din Allah (after whom the street is named).[1] Historically, it was the most important artery of the city and was often referred to as the Qasaba (or Qasabah). It constituted the main axis of the city's economic zones where its souqs (markets) were concentrated. The street's prestige also attracted the construction of many monumental religious and charitable buildings commissioned by Egypt's rulers and elites, making it a dense repository of historic Islamic architecture in Cairo. This is especially evident in the Bayn al-Qasrayn area, which is lined with some of the most important monuments of Islamic Cairo. 180 minutes

One of the oldest mosques in Egypt, its façade is known for its detailed stonework, while its interior welcomes all visitors with a fresh, cooling breeze.
A haven for architectural enthusiasts, Al Qamar mosque is said to have been built during the Fatimid period in 1125 AD under the regime of Al-Ma’mun Al Bata’ihi, though some historians argue it was built during the caliphate of Imam Al-Amir bi-Ahkami l-Lah; others still claim that it was built during the caliphate of Al Mustansir. 30 minutes
Al-Hakim Mosque, Cairo, Egypt The mosque is located at the beginning of al-Muizz li Din Allah Street, adjacent to the Fatimid northern wall of the Old City of Cairo in Egypt, only a few steps away from Bab al-Futuh (Gate of Conquest) and Bab al-Nasr (Gate of Victory). At the time of its construction, the mosque lay outside the brick-built walls encircling Fatimid Cairo, constructed by order of Jawhar al-Saqalli, the commander of the armies of the Fatimid caliph, al-Muizz li-Din Allah in AH 359 / AD 970. In AH 480 / AD 1087. Badr al-Din al-Jamali, minister of the Fatimid caliph al-Mustansir, undertook the expansion of the city on the northern and southern ends, for a distance of 150 m. He built the new walls out of stone and the north wall butted on to the northeastern wall of the mosque, Cairo, Egypt 30 minutes

Très bon accompagnement dans des parties du Caire où j n'irais pas seul. Merci pour m'avoir montré le vrai Caire et ses mosquées témoins de la riche histoire de l'Egypte.

This was a wonderful tour thanks to Amgad, the tour director and his very skilled driver. He was at the pickup point early waiting for me. He was so kind and patient and guided us with ease through the city to all the sites. The felucca ride was lovely and peaceful. The Cairo tower was great to get a nice overview of the city and to see the pyramids in the distance. The market place was amazing - i wish i had more time. The restaurant where we had lunch, Abou Tarek, was also a fine choice to get a taste of the local Kushari. I can't say enough nice things about Amgad. I am very grateful for such a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend this tour and the company as well.
