Today's outing is as varied as an Egyptian buffet! Head for Hurghada's fish market, with its 100% iodine atmosphere and stalls that shine almost as bright as the scales on the sea bream.
Right next door, it's impossible to miss the magnificent El Mina mosque, the second largest in the country, all white and elegant.
We then took a short break at the marina to sip a drink with other tourists in the shade of the palm trees and admire the yachts.
Afterwards, we took advantage of the view over the public beach to capture a few shots and selfies - between the golden sand and turquoise sea, the setting was perfect ????.
We ended the walk with a visit to Hurghada's Egyptian Museum. A nice surprise, modern and well presented, perfect to round off this afternoon between tradition, sunshine and fresh fish.
On the plus side:
The cherry on the tajine: my young guide Mak, 27, spoke excellent French, full of humour, curious and well-informed. He shared relevant anecdotes while asking me mischievous questions. A rich, lively and, frankly, very enjoyable afternoon.
The downside:
As on my last trip to Hurghada, the guide did his "nice little diversions" thing again... which led us straight to a souvenir shop. The atmosphere was one of flying carpets and inflated prices.
The sales assistant, very fluent in French (and flattering), was a self-proclaimed "personal adviser" - in other words, a wallet hunter disguised as a benevolent friend. Except that tourist shopping isn't really my thing... I was just curious to see the objects on display, not to leave with an extra suitcase. They looked like Swiss boutique prices...
Clearly, the perfect combo for tourist-grabbers, with probably a commission option for the guide as a bonus.
In short, I didn't fall for it this time. See you next time! ???? ????
