Our boat docked near the entrance in the late afternoon together with other boats and the place was hectic .. we were followed by hoards of sellers till the entrance to temple and who did not accept ‘no thank you’ which was annoying.
Temple itself is beautiful but too crowded. It celebrates two gods: Horus ..Falcon representing God of sky and Sobek the crocodile God and patron of fertility. Beside beautiful carved columns and other remains of this fascinating temple you can see nilometer which was a mechanism to determine ‘taxes’ ie if the levels of Nile are at certain level they would predict what the harvest would be and set the taxes accordingly.
Next to temple is a museum for Sobek where you can see crocodile mummies which was very interesting.
